Dell Precision T5820 Xeon W-2155 Workstation

This Dell Precision T5820 tower workstation is built for professionals who need reliable compute power for engineering, rendering and data-analysis workloads. It ships new with an Intel Xeon W-2155 10-core processor, 16GB DDR4 2666MHz registered ECC memory, a 2TB NVMe SSD and an Nvidia Quadro P4000 8GB GDDR5 graphics card. Windows 11 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed and activated. The 950W 80 Plus Gold power supply supports sustained heavy loads.

Suited for multi-threaded professional applications

The 10-core Xeon W-2155 and ECC memory make this system a strong fit for CAD, simulation, video editing and scientific computing where stability matters. The Quadro P4000 drives up to four displays via DisplayPort for multi-monitor workflows. Buyers who need higher GPU memory for large 3D scenes, more than 16GB RAM out of the box, or a smaller chassis for space-constrained desks should consider other configurations.

LGA 2066 socket with eight DDR4 slots

The motherboard uses the LGA 2066 socket and provides eight DDR4 DIMM slots supporting up to 256GB of 2666MHz registered ECC memory. This capacity ceiling and slot count are the key figures for planning future memory upgrades. The 2TB M.2 NVMe drive occupies one PCIe slot, leaving room for additional storage or expansion cards as workloads grow.

Questions about this item

What size power supply does the T5820 mid-tower require?

The tower ships with a 950 watt 80 Plus Gold certified power supply rated at 90 percent efficiency.

Which memory slots should I populate first when adding DDR4 2666 registered ECC modules?

Fill the eight DIMM slots in the order shown in the service manual, starting with the slots nearest the CPU socket for optimal channel balance.

When will the 2 TB PCIe NVMe SSD likely need replacement under heavy write workloads?

Enterprise-grade NVMe drives typically endure several petabytes written; monitor SMART health attributes and plan replacement when the media wear indicator approaches its rated limit.
