Precision T5820 Tower Workstation

This Dell Precision T5820 Tower workstation pairs an Intel Xeon W-2235 six-core processor with 32GB of DDR4 2933MHz registered ECC memory. A 2TB PCIe NVMe SSD provides fast primary storage. The NVIDIA Quadro P5000 graphics card with 16GB GDDR5X memory drives four DisplayPort outputs. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed for professional workflows.

950W Gold PSU Thermals

A 950 Watt 80 Plus Gold certified power supply operates at 90% efficiency to support the Xeon CPU and Quadro GPU under load. The mid-tower chassis uses standard Dell airflow paths to manage thermals during sustained compute or rendering tasks. Integrated Realtek ALC3234 audio and Intel i219 Gigabit Ethernet handle I/O without adding discrete cards that increase heat.

Eight DIMM Slots Expandability

Four of eight DDR4 DIMM slots are populated, leaving four open for expansion up to the 256GB maximum supported capacity. The M.2 NVMe slot is occupied by the 2TB drive; additional storage requires 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch bays inside the tower. Quad DisplayPort output frees PCIe slots otherwise needed for multi-monitor cards. No monitor is included.

Questions about this item

How do I install the Xeon W-2235 into the LGA 2066 socket and what step is most often missed?

Align the triangle on the processor with the socket marker, lower it straight down without touching the contacts, then secure the load plate before applying thermal paste and mounting the cooler.

Which components in this T5820 will need replacement first and what are the limits?

The 950 W 80 Plus Gold power supply and system fans are the primary wear items; the four DDR4 2933 slots hold up to 256 GB total if you later need more memory.

What thermal or power limit appears first when the Xeon W-2235 runs at 4.6 GHz turbo under sustained load?

The 950 W power supply and the chassis cooling capacity set the practical ceiling; the CPU will reduce clocks once its thermal budget or the PSU output limit is reached.
