Precision T7820 dual-Xeon workstation

The Dell Precision T7820 is a tower workstation built around two Intel Xeon Platinum 8168 processors delivering 48 cores at 2.7 GHz. It ships with 256 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory and a 512 GB SATA SSD. An NVIDIA Quadro M4000 with 8 GB video memory and Windows 11 Pro complete the professional platform.

Expandable memory and professional graphics

Twelve DDR4 slots support ECC registered modules so the system can grow with larger datasets and simulation workloads. The Quadro M4000 drives multi-display CAD, rendering and content-creation pipelines while the SSD keeps project files and applications responsive. The tower chassis provides room for additional storage and add-in cards as requirements change.

Thermals and power in daily use

Dual-processor thermal design manages sustained loads from rendering, engineering and data-heavy tasks without throttling. Workstation-class cooling keeps fan noise at levels suited to quiet studio or office environments. Power draw scales with the 48-core CPU complex and Quadro GPU under typical professional workloads.

Questions about this item

Will the 2.7 GHz base clock hold under a 48-core sustained workload?

The Xeon 8168 runs at 2.7 GHz base with a 3.60 GHz turbo; sustained all-core speed depends on the cooling solution installed in the T7820 tower.

How loud and hot does the tower get when both CPUs and the Quadro M4000 run flat-out all day?

Dual Xeon 8168 chips and the M4000 draw significant power; the T7820 chassis uses multiple fans to manage heat, so expect noticeable airflow noise under continuous load.

Does the 512 GB SATA SSD boot Windows 11 Pro without an extra drive or RAID card?

Yes, the installed 512 GB SATA SSD arrives with Windows 11 Pro pre-loaded and ready to start without additional storage hardware.
