Precision T7820 dual Xeon workstation

The Dell Precision T7820 is a tower workstation built around two Intel Xeon Platinum 8168 processors delivering 48 cores at 2.7 GHz. It ships with 64 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory across 12 slots and a 512 GB SATA SSD. An NVIDIA Quadro M4000 with 8 GB video memory drives professional visual workloads. Windows 11 Pro comes preinstalled.

Suited for multi-threaded professional workloads

This configuration suits engineers, designers and content creators who need high core counts for rendering, simulation or multi-application workflows. The Quadro M4000 supports certified CAD drivers and multi-display setups. Buyers who need GPU compute for modern AI frameworks or real-time ray tracing should look at something else. The single 512 GB SSD may also limit users with large local datasets.

Check memory slots and power before ordering

The system uses DDR4 ECC registered modules across 12 DIMM slots; verify your upgrade sticks match this specification. Confirm the installed power supply can handle the dual 8168 CPUs and the Quadro M4000 together. Ensure your rack or desk space accommodates a full-size tower chassis. The LGA 3647 sockets support a maximum of two processors, which are already populated.

Questions about this item

Does the Precision 7820 tower need a separate monitor, keyboard and mouse to start working?

Yes — the workstation is a tower unit only and requires an external display, keyboard and mouse to complete the out-of-box setup.

Can I keep using my existing DDR4 ECC Registered memory modules alongside the installed 64 GB?

The system has 12 DDR4 slots and currently holds 64 GB of ECC Registered memory; any additional modules must match DDR4 ECC Registered specifications to function correctly.

How can I confirm the Quadro M4000 with 8 GB video memory is recognised after Windows 11 Pro boots?

Open Device Manager, expand Display adapters and verify that NVIDIA Quadro M4000 appears with 8 GB of dedicated video memory listed.
