Professional dual-Xeon workstation

The Dell Precision T7820 is a tower workstation equipped with two Intel Xeon Platinum 8168 processors delivering 48 cores at 2.7 GHz base frequency. It targets engineers, designers and data specialists who need sustained multi-threaded throughput for CAD, rendering and simulation workloads. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed for immediate deployment.

Sustained multi-threaded throughput

With 48 cores across two sockets the system maintains high compute density during long rendering or simulation runs rather than relying on short turbo bursts. The 32 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory provides error-corrected capacity for large datasets and stable operation under continuous load. The 512 GB SATA SSD supplies consistent read access for project assets throughout extended sessions.

Professional GPU thermal profile

The NVIDIA Quadro P4000 with 8 GB video memory is designed for professional visual workloads and multi-display configurations while operating within the tower's thermal envelope. Workstation-class cooling manages combined CPU and GPU heat during typical design and engineering tasks without excessive acoustic output. Power draw scales with the dual-processor and professional GPU configuration under normal working conditions.

Questions about this item

How much heat and noise should I expect from the dual Xeon Platinum 8168 CPUs when the T7820 runs all day?

The workstation uses two 48-core Xeon Platinum 8168 processors rated at 2.7 GHz base clock with a 3.60 GHz turbo, so sustained loads will draw significant power and require active cooling; fan speed will rise under full utilisation.

Which components must I already own for this tower to operate out of the box?

Only a display with a compatible video input, a keyboard and a mouse are required; the system ships with Windows 11 Pro installed, 32 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory, a 512 GB SATA SSD and the Quadro P4000 graphics card.

Will my existing DDR4 ECC registered modules work alongside the installed 32 GB in the 12 memory slots?

Yes, the T7820 provides 12 DDR4 slots supporting ECC registered DIMMs; you can add matching modules to the installed 32 GB up to the platform maximum.
