Precision T7820 dual-Xeon workstation

The Dell Precision T7820 is a tower workstation built around two Intel Xeon Platinum 8168 processors delivering 48 cores at 2.7 GHz. It targets engineers, designers and data analysts who need high multi-threaded throughput for rendering, simulation and large dataset work. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed for immediate deployment.

ECC memory and professional GPU

The system includes 64 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory across 12 slots, providing error-correcting capacity for stability in long compute jobs. A 512 GB SATA SSD holds the operating system and active project files. The NVIDIA Quadro M2000 graphics card drives professional visual applications and multi-display configurations without occupying a second PCIe slot for a second card.

Thermals and power in daily use

The tower chassis uses Dell's directed-airflow design to cool both CPUs and the Quadro M2000 under sustained loads. Fan speeds remain low during typical CAD and office workloads, rising only during extended all-core rendering. Power draw scales with the dual-processor configuration, so the unit is intended for mains-powered workstations rather than mobile or power-constrained environments.

Questions about this item

How many memory slots does the Precision T7820 provide for expanding the 64GB DDR4 ECC Registered configuration?

The system includes 12 DDR4 memory slots, so you can add more ECC Registered modules to the installed 64GB.

What thermal load should I expect from the dual Xeon Platinum 8168 CPUs when the workstation runs continuous rendering jobs?

Two 8168 processors at 2.7GHz base and 3.60GHz turbo will draw significant power under sustained load, so plan for robust chassis airflow and adequate room cooling.

Which display connectors does the Quadro M2000 card expose for multi-monitor CAD setups?

The Quadro M2000 provides four DisplayPort 1.2 outputs, letting you drive up to four 4K monitors directly from the card.
