Precision T7910 Workstation Overview

The Dell Precision T7910 is a tower workstation built for professional workloads. It ships with Windows 10 Pro pre-installed and a 1300W power supply. The system uses an Intel C612 chipset and supports up to 1TB of DDR4 ECC memory across 16 DIMM slots. This configuration arrives new and ready for deployment.

Xeon E5-2640 v4 Processor

A single Intel Xeon E5-2640 v4 provides 10 cores at 2.4GHz with Hyperthreading for 20 virtual threads. The CPU fits the LGA 2011-3 socket on the C612 platform. This processor determines the compute ceiling for rendering, simulation and multi-threaded applications. No second CPU is installed in this unit.

Graphics and Storage Fit

The Nvidia NVS 310 with 512MB drives two DisplayPort monitors for standard office or 2D design work. A new 250GB SATA SSD handles the OS and active projects. Buyers who need 3D acceleration, GPU compute or larger local storage should look at configurations with higher-end graphics cards and additional drive bays.

Questions about this item

What does the 10-core 2.4 GHz Xeon E5-2640 v4 deliver in a real workload?

The processor runs at 2.4 GHz with 10 physical cores and hyperthreading for 20 virtual cores, giving strong multi-threaded throughput for rendering, simulation and heavy multitasking in this workstation.

How does the LSI SAS 3008 12 Gb/s controller limit drive performance?

The integrated controller supports up to 8 drives at 12 Gb/s SAS or 6 Gb/s SATA with software RAID 0, 1 and 10, so each SATA SSD is capped at the 6 Gb/s link speed.

What physical space and power does the tower need for extra drives?

The chassis accepts up to four 3.5-inch or eight 2.5-inch SATA/SAS drives plus four M.2 PCIe SSDs, all powered by the 1300 W supply with active power-factor correction.
