Dell RU370 8X SATA Slim DVD-ROM

This Dell RU370 is a new 8X SATA internal slim DVD-ROM drive designed for OptiPlex systems. It reads CD and DVD media through a standard SATA connection. The slim form factor fits compatible small-form-factor or all-in-one chassis. It serves as a replacement optical drive for supported Dell desktops.

Suits OptiPlex owners needing a slim SATA optical

This drive suits users with a compatible OptiPlex bay and SATA port. It is not for systems lacking a slim 5.25-inch bay or a free SATA connector. Builds requiring Blu-ray playback or disc writing should look elsewhere. Machines without internal drive mounting points cannot use this unit.

Questions about this item

Does the DELL RU370 need a SATA port on my motherboard?

Yes, the drive connects through a standard SATA interface so your system must provide an available SATA data and power connection.

Will this slim DVD-ROM fit in an older OptiPlex that uses a 5.25-inch bay?

The drive is a slim form factor designed for the smaller optical bay used in compatible OptiPlex models; a 5.25-inch bay would require an adapter bracket.
