DELL 65W USB-C charger for ThinkPad and Yoga

The DELL SM65CL-01 delivers 65 watts through a USB-C connector for Lenovo ThinkPad X1, X13, T14, T14s, T15, E14, E15 and Yoga 7i, 9i, C940 models. It also supports Dell, HP, Samsung, Asus, Acer and Google devices that charge over USB-C at 20 volts and 3.25 amps. Buyers who need a proprietary barrel-tip adapter or a higher-wattage supply for workstation-class laptops cannot use this unit.

Thermals noise and power draw in normal use

The adapter accepts 100 to 240 volts at 1.8 amps and 50 or 60 hertz, then regulates output across 5V, 9V, 15V and 20V rails at up to 3 amps each, with the 20V rail reaching 3.25 amps. No active cooling is present, so operation is silent. The brick draws only the power required by the attached device up to its 65-watt limit. Users who require fan-assisted cooling for sustained loads in hot environments will not find it here.

Bundled AC cable enables immediate desktop use

The package includes one AC power cable alongside the adapter, so the charger is ready for wall-outlet connection without a separate cord purchase. The fixed USB-C output cable carries all negotiated voltages for fast charging. Shoppers who want a detachable USB-C cable for replacement or length options must source one separately.

Questions about this item

How do I connect the SM65CL-01 to a ThinkPad X1 Carbon and what step do people often miss?

Plug the USB-C connector into the laptop's USB-C port and the AC cable into a 100-240V outlet; the step often missed is ensuring the outlet supplies 50/60Hz so the adapter can deliver 20V at 3.25A for 65W.

What part of this charger will need replacement first with daily use?

The detachable AC power cable typically wears before the adapter body; keep a spare IEC C7 cable rated for 1.8A to avoid downtime.

What limit appears first when the SM65CL-01 runs continuously at full load?

The 65W output ceiling is reached first; the adapter maintains 20V at 3.25A but cannot exceed 65W even though the label mentions 85W.
