85W USB-C Adapter for ThinkPad & Chromebook

This 85W USB-C AC adapter delivers 20V at 11.8A to compatible Lenovo ThinkPad T, E, X1 Carbon, X13, L and Yoga models as well as select Chromebook and ThinkBook devices. It ships new with a 9ft power cord for flexible desk placement.

Smart Power Delivery across 65W.

The adapter automatically negotiates 20V/3.25A, 15V/3A or 9V/3A output depending on the connected device, so sustained charging remains stable whether the system draws full 65W or a lower maintenance level. Internal protection circuits guard against overcurrent, overvoltage, overload and short-circuit during extended sessions.

Replaces shorter or lower-wattage Type-C chargers

Users moving from a 45W or 65W unit with a shorter cable gain both higher headroom and 2.7 metres of reach, reducing the need to sit beside a wall socket. The step up is worthwhile when the original adapter limits performance throttling or forces an awkward workspace layout.

Questions about this item

Does the 85 W USB-C adapter run hot or make noise when it is charging all day?

The unit is built with heat-resistant materials and internal protection chips that guard against overcurrent, overvoltage, overload and short-circuit, so it stays cool and silent during continuous use.

What must my laptop already have for this charger to work?

Your laptop needs a USB Type-C port that accepts USB Power Delivery at 20 V / 3.25 A, 15 V / 3 A or 9 V / 3 A.

Will this 65 W adapter charge an older ThinkPad that originally shipped with a 45 W or 65 W slim-tip charger?

No, it only fits devices that charge through USB-C with Power Delivery; it cannot connect to legacy rectangular or slim-tip power jacks.
