65W USB-C adapter for Dell laptops

The DELL SM65CS-01 delivers 65 watts over USB Type-C to compatible Dell Chromebook, Latitude, XPS and Inspiron models. It accepts 100-240 V input at 50-60 Hz and provides selectable output profiles from 5 V to 20 V. The unit is new and UL listed.

Single-cable power for USB-C devices

One USB-C cable carries both power and data negotiation, so no barrel-jack converter is needed. The adapter replaces 45 W and 60 W Dell USB-C chargers and works with the listed Latitude rugged tablets and 2-in-1 units. A standard C5 AC cord completes the connection to mains power.

Stable output during extended sessions

The supply maintains its rated 65 W continuously across the 5 V, 9 V, 12 V, 15 V, 18 V and 20 V rails without thermal throttling. Output current reaches 3.25 A at 20 V, matching the demand of sustained CPU and GPU loads on supported ultraportables.

Questions about this item

What is the maximum sustained output power this 65 W adapter can deliver before it hits its thermal limit?

The unit is rated for 65 W continuous output at 20 V and 3.25 A, and the internal protection will throttle if that level is exceeded for an extended period.

How much heat and fan noise should I expect when the charger runs at full load all day?

There is no fan inside; the adapter relies on passive convection, so it becomes warm but silent during continuous 65 W operation.

Which Dell laptops must already be in my bag for this USB-C charger to work?

It supports Dell Latitude, XPS 13, Chromebook and Inspiron models that accept 45 W, 60 W or 65 W over USB-C Power Delivery.
