Questions about this item

Does my server need a 12 Gb/s SAS backplane to use this 1.8 TB 2.5" 10K drive?

The drive runs at 12 Gb/s SAS, so the controller and backplane must support that speed for full performance.

Can I mix this 12 Gb/s SAS 10K drive with older 6 Gb/s SAS 10K drives in the same array?

Yes, the drive will negotiate down to 6 Gb/s on an older backplane while keeping its 10K spindle speed.
