Silver 3.5 inch SAS hard drive mounted in a black Dell EqualLogic caddy

DELL

DELL ST3600002SS 600GB 10000RPM SAS 3.5" internal hard drive with caddy

SKU CH-MRSV-R7NP5

600 GB SAS drive spinning at 10000 RPM with 16 MB cache, supplied in a 3.5 inch caddy

  • 600 GB capacity stores large datasets and applications
  • 10000 RPM spindle speed delivers fast data access
  • 6 Gb/s SAS interface provides reliable enterprise connectivity
  • 16 MB cache buffer improves burst transfer performance
  • Includes 3.5" EqualLogic caddy for direct drive-bay installation

Purpose-built storage for Dell EqualLogic arrays

This 3.5-inch SAS drive delivers 600GB of capacity at 10000RPM with a 16MB buffer. It ships new with the required EqualLogic caddy for direct installation into compatible Dell storage enclosures. The 6Gb/s interface matches the backplane speed of supported array models.

Interface and form-factor compatibility

The drive uses a 3.5-inch SAS connector operating at 6Gb/s, which is the single specification that determines whether it fits your shelf. Only systems with matching SAS backplanes and EqualLogic tray dimensions will accept this unit without adapters or modification.

Sustained workload behaviour

At 10000RPM the spindle maintains consistent throughput during extended read and write sequences typical of RAID rebuilds or database logs. The 16MB cache absorbs burst I/O while the mechanical latency remains stable across long duty cycles.

Questions about this item

What does the 10000RPM spindle speed mean for real-world performance?

The 10000RPM rotation reduces rotational latency and increases sustained data rates compared to slower drives, improving response times for transactional workloads.

What does the SAS 6Gb/s interface limit in practice?

The SAS 6Gb/s link caps the maximum burst transfer rate at 6 gigabits per second, which the 16MB cache helps sustain during sequential reads and writes.

What does the drive need to fit in a standard 3.5-inch bay?

It includes a Dell EqualLogic caddy that adapts the 3.5-inch SAS drive to the hot-swap tray slots used in EqualLogic arrays.
