SKU CH-G9GC-B4CED

A 600GB 10000RPM SAS hard drive with 64MB cache, supplied new with a Dell R-series tray

  • 600 GB capacity supports data-intensive workloads
  • 10000 RPM spindle speed accelerates read and write performance
  • SAS 6Gb/s interface delivers reliable server connectivity
  • 64 MB cache buffers bursts for smoother throughput
  • Includes Dell R-series tray for direct installation

Dell R-Series Server Drive

This 600GB SAS hard drive is built for Dell R-series servers that require a 2.5in 10000RPM spindle. The 6Gb/s interface and 64MB buffer suit transactional workloads in enterprise arrays. It ships new with zero hours on the platters.

Included R-Series Tray

The bundled tray matches the drive bay locking mechanism on Dell R-series chassis so the drive seats without an adapter. This removes the need to source a separate caddy and cuts installation time during a hot-swap replacement. The tray is the only accessory supplied.

10000RPM Spindle Speed

The 10000RPM rotational speed determines the random I/O latency ceiling for database logs and virtual-machine stores. Buyers who need higher capacity per spindle or lower power draw per terabyte should evaluate larger nearline drives instead.

Questions about this item

How often will the 64MB cache need attention?

The 64MB buffer is solid-state memory on the drive board and requires no user maintenance.

What limits sustained write speed on this 600GB 10000RPM SAS drive?

The mechanical 10000RPM rotation and 6Gb/s SAS link cap continuous throughput before the cache fills.

How much heat does the 2.5in 600GB SAS drive add when running all day?

A 2.5in 10000RPM SAS drive typically draws under 10W, so heat output stays modest in a ventilated bay.
