Dell 2.5 inch SAS hard drive in silver caddy tray

DELL

DELL ST9300603SS 300GB 10K 6Gb/s SAS internal hard drive with caddy

SKU CH-P0S7-6FDSS

300 GB 10 000 RPM SAS drive with 16 MB cache and server caddy included

  • 300GB capacity supports demanding server workloads
  • 10000RPM rotational speed delivers fast data access
  • SAS 6Gb/s interface enables high-throughput connectivity
  • 16MB buffer improves read and write performance
  • Includes PowerEdge server caddy for direct installation

Capacity and fit

This 300GB 2.5-inch SAS drive spins at 10000RPM and includes a Dell PowerEdge caddy for direct installation in compatible servers. It targets administrators who need a 6Gb/s SAS drive for existing 2.5-inch bays.

Sustained workload behaviour

The 16MB buffer and 10000RPM spindle deliver consistent throughput for random I/O workloads such as databases or virtualisation hosts. Mechanical latency remains predictable during extended operations because the rotational speed does not throttle.

SAS 6Gb/s interface limits

The 6Gb/s SAS link caps maximum transfer rate at the interface level, so sequential performance cannot exceed that ceiling. Systems limited to 3Gb/s backplanes will restrict the drive to the lower signalling speed.

Questions about this item

How much heat and noise does the 10000RPM 2.5" SAS drive produce when running continuously?

The 10000RPM spindle speed and 2.5" form factor mean higher sustained heat and audible seek noise than slower drives; ensure your server chassis provides adequate airflow for the 300GB SAS unit.

What controller or backplane must I already have to use the 6Gb/s SAS interface?

A SAS host bus adapter or RAID controller with a 6Gb/s port is required; the drive connects via the standard SAS interface and includes a Dell PowerEdge caddy for hot-swap bays.

Will the included caddy fit the older PowerEdge R610 and T410 chassis I still run?

Yes, the supplied caddy matches the 2.5" SAS drive bays used across the listed PowerEdge models including R610, T410, R710 and many others.
