  • Black finish matches original Dell chassis aesthetics

Dell T0799 48X IDE CD-ROM

The Dell T0799 is a 48X IDE half-height CD-ROM drive finished in black. It is designed for OptiPlex, Dimension and Precision WorkStation desktops that still use a parallel ATA connection. The drive reads standard CD media at up to 48-speed. It arrives in new condition.

For builders maintaining legacy Dell desktops

This drive suits technicians restoring or servicing older Dell towers that require a matching black bezel and IDE interface. It is not for systems that lack an IDE optical connector or a 5.25-inch half-height bay. Buyers needing DVD read capability or writing functions should consider a different model.

Questions about this item

My motherboard only has a 40-pin IDE header — does this 48X drive plug straight in?

Yes, the drive uses a standard IDE interface so it connects directly to a 40-pin motherboard header with a regular ribbon cable.

I still use an older Dell OptiPlex or Dimension — will this 48X IDE unit fit the half-height bay in those chassis?

The half-height form factor matches the drive bays in OptiPlex, Dimension and Precision WorkStation systems, so it installs without adapters.
