A 16-bay 2.5-inch tower chassis for custom server builds using LGA 3647 processors
The Dell PowerEdge T550 is a tower barebone chassis that accepts up to sixteen 2.5-inch drives. No CPU, memory, storage, expansion cards or power supply are included, so the builder selects every internal component. This empty platform suits integrators who want full control over the final specification. ||
System builders who need a 16-bay 2.5-inch tower and prefer to source processors, memory, storage and power separately will find the T550 a suitable foundation. Buyers who require a ready-to-run server with components already installed should consider a configured system instead. ||
The chassis uses an LGA 3647 socket, so only processors designed for that socket can be installed. Matching the CPU to this socket is the single step that determines whether the build can proceed.

The barebone chassis ships without a power supply, so total power draw depends entirely on the PSU, processors, drives and add-in cards you install.
You need to provide one or two LGA 3647 CPUs, memory modules, storage drives for the 2.5-inch bays, a compatible power supply and any expansion cards required for your workload.
The chassis uses Dell's 2.5-inch drive carriers and proprietary CPU thermal modules, so third-party caddies and generic LGA 3647 coolers will not mount correctly.
