Dual Xeon Platinum 8160 Workstation

The Dell T7820 tower houses two Intel Xeon Platinum 8160 processors running at 2.10 GHz. Each CPU contributes 24 cores for high-throughput professional workloads. The system ships with 32 GB of DDR4 memory and a 512 GB SSD. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed for immediate deployment.

Suited for multi-threaded professional tasks

This configuration targets CAD, rendering, engineering simulation and content-creation pipelines that scale across many cores. The NVIDIA M4000 graphics card drives professional visual applications and multi-display setups. Buyers who need larger memory capacity or faster single-thread speeds should consider other options.

Expandable to 768 GB DDR4

Four 3.5-inch drive bays provide internal storage expansion. The motherboard supports a maximum of 768 GB of DDR4 memory across its slots. This ceiling determines whether the workstation can accommodate future project growth.

Questions about this item

How do I install the second Xeon Platinum 8160 processor in the T7820, and which step is commonly missed?

The chassis supports a maximum of two processors and both sockets are already populated with Xeon Platinum 8160 CPUs, so no second processor installation is required.

What memory upgrades will this workstation need later, and what type must I buy?

It ships with 32GB of DDR4 and can expand to 768GB, so future upgrades must use DDR4 modules only.

Which limit appears first when the M4000 GPU runs sustained heavy workloads?

The M4000 is a dedicated professional graphics card; its thermal and power envelope will be the first constraint under prolonged heavy use.
