DELL T7820 Dual Xeon Workstation

The DELL T7820 is a tower workstation built for professionals in engineering, design and data analysis who need high core counts and large memory capacity. It ships with two Xeon Silver 4114 processors and 256GB of DDR4 memory, with Windows 11 Pro preinstalled for immediate deployment.

Installation and common issues

The chassis provides four 3.5-inch expansion bays for additional storage drives, and the system supports up to 768GB of DDR4 memory across its slots. Installation follows standard tower procedures; the main limitation is the maximum of two processors, which are already populated in this configuration.

Memory capacity ceiling

The platform maxes out at 768GB of DDR4, so buyers planning workloads that exceed this limit will need a different architecture. The installed 256GB suits most professional applications, but the fixed ceiling is the single specification that determines long-term scalability.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the 20 cores across both Xeon Silver 4114 processors are active after setup?

Open Task Manager in Windows 11 Pro, select the Performance tab and choose CPU; the logical processor count should read 20, confirming both CPUs are recognised and running at 2.20GHz.

What ships with the T7820 and what must I source separately for a working system?

The tower arrives with dual Xeon Silver 4114 CPUs, 256GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB SSD, K4200 GPU and Windows 11 Pro installed; only a monitor, keyboard and mouse need to be added.

Which memory capacity should I choose if my projects may grow beyond the installed 256GB?

The board supports up to 768GB DDR4 across its slots, so you can add modules later; start with the 256GB configuration and expand when workload demands it.
