A 280 W internal power supply with PFC, single 12 V rail at 16 A, and 110/220 V AC input for OptiPlex 320 desktop and mini-tower systems
The Dell X9072 is a 280 W power supply unit with active power factor correction built for the OptiPlex 320 desktop and 320 mini-tower systems. It replaces the original internal unit in those chassis and accepts 110 V AC or 220 V AC input. The single +12 V rail delivers up to 16 A alongside 3.3 V, 5 V and auxiliary rails. It is not suited for builds that need higher wattage or standard ATX mounting.
The unit operates from a 110 V AC or 220 V AC mains supply and converts it to 3.3 V DC at 10 A, 5 V DC at 15 A, 12 V DC at 16 A, -12 V DC at 500 mA and 5 V standby at 2 A. With a single +12 V rail rated for 280 W total output, it runs within the thermal envelope Dell specified for the OptiPlex 320 platform. No independent noise or efficiency figures are provided in the specifications.
This internal form-factor supply fits directly into the OptiPlex 320 desktop and 320 mini-tower cases using the proprietary mounting and connector layout Dell designed for those systems. It frees the builder from sourcing adapters for the motherboard and drive power leads found in the original chassis. Builders working with any other case or motherboard will find the pin-out and physical dimensions incompatible.

Slide the internal form-factor unit into the chassis until it locks, then connect the main ATX and CPU power cables; the step often missed is seating the retaining latch fully so the supply cannot shift.
The internal cooling fan is the only moving part; plan to clean dust from its intake vents periodically and replace the fan if bearing noise appears.
The single +12 V rail is rated at 16 A, so the 12 V current ceiling is reached before the 3.3 V 10 A or 5 V 15 A rails.
