48 GB memory workstation

The Dell XPS 9730 is a 17.0 inch mobile workstation with a 3840 x 2400 touchscreen, Intel Core i7 13th Gen 14-core processor reaching 5 GHz turbo and 48 GB of system memory. An Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU with 8 GB GDDR6X drives the dedicated graphics. A 2304 GB SSD stores the operating system and project files. Windows 11 Pro is preinstalled.

Creators needing RAM headroom

This laptop suits video editors, 3D artists and developers who need 48 GB of unified memory for large timelines, texture sets or virtual machines. The 4k touch panel supports direct pen input for colour-critical work. Buyers who want more storage capacity or a lighter chassis for frequent travel should look at something else.

48 GB soldered memory

The single specification that decides fit is the 48 GB of memory, which is not upgradeable after purchase. If your workloads regularly exceed this capacity, the system will swap to the 2304 GB SSD and performance will drop. Confirm that 48 GB covers your peak usage before ordering.

Questions about this item

What screw size secures the 17.0" 3840x2400 touchscreen assembly?

The 17.0" 3840x2400 touchscreen assembly uses standard Dell XPS chassis screws; a Torx T5 bit fits the 14 internal mounting points without stripping the silver palm-rest frame.

Which step do owners skip when installing the 48GB RAM and 2304GB SSD?

Owners often forget to disable BitLocker in Windows 11 Pro before swapping the 48GB memory modules or 2304GB drive, causing the 13th Gen i7-13700H to halt at the blue recovery screen.

When does the RTX 4070 8GB GDDR6X fan curve need cleaning?

The RTX 4070 8GB GDDR6X fan curve should be cleaned once the quad-speaker vents show dust buildup, typically after 11 months of 3.7 GHz sustained loads on the 14-core processor.
