Core i7-13700H 17-inch workstation

The Dell XPS 9730 is a 17.0-inch laptop built around a 14-core Intel Core i7-13700H processor that reaches 5 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 64GB of memory, a 512GB solid-state drive and a dedicated Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 graphics card with 6GB GDDR6 video memory. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed on the silver chassis.

Installation and common issues

The system arrives fully assembled with the operating system already configured, so no internal hardware installation is required. Initial setup follows the standard Windows 11 out-of-box experience. The non-touch FHD+ display uses a 1920 x 1200 panel; users expecting touch input should note that this model does not support it.

Storage, memory and graphics headroom

The 512GB SSD provides fast boot and application loading, though users with large media libraries or multiple virtual machines may find capacity limiting. The 64GB memory allocation handles heavy multitasking and content-creation workloads comfortably. The RTX 4050 with 6GB GDDR6 suits entry-level creative work and modern titles at 1080p, but higher resolutions or ray-traced settings will exceed its frame-buffer and compute limits.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the Core i7-13700H is hitting 5 GHz turbo after setup?

Open Task Manager, select the Performance tab, choose CPU and watch the speed readout while a heavy load runs; sustained readings at or near 5 GHz show the 14-core processor is boosting as specified.

What ships in the box and what must I source separately for the XPS 9730?

The laptop, its power adapter and Windows 11 Pro are included; no external peripherals, docking station or additional storage are supplied, so purchase those separately if required.

Should I choose the 64 GB memory and 512 GB SSD configuration or a different capacity for the RTX 4050 model?

This SKU is fixed at 64 GB RAM and a 512 GB SSD; there are no alternative memory or storage options listed for the RTX 4050 version, so select this configuration if the specifications match your workload.
