17-inch 4K UHD workstation

The Dell XPS 9730 is a 17.0-inch laptop built around a 3840 x 2400 non-touch display and a 14-core Intel Core i7-13700H processor that reaches 5 GHz turbo. It targets creative professionals and engineers who need accurate colour work and GPU acceleration in a silver chassis running Windows 11 Home.

Capacity and headroom

The system pairs 16 GB of memory with a 1000 GB SSD, while the specifications also list a 960 GB solid-state drive capacity. The GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU adds 8 GB of GDDR6X video memory for 3D rendering and compute tasks. Buyers who want more storage or user-replaceable memory modules will need a different platform.

Thermals, noise and power

The 14-core CPU and dedicated RTX 4070 share a compact 17-inch thermal envelope, so sustained loads will push fan speeds higher than on thicker workstations. Dell's MyDell software adjusts performance, audio and battery profiles automatically to balance acoustics and temperature. Users who need silent operation under continuous heavy render loads should consider larger form factors.

Questions about this item

Will the 3840 x 2400 display scale cleanly when I mirror it to my older 1080p monitor?

Windows 11 handles per-monitor DPI scaling so the 17.0" 4K panel and a 1080p screen can each run at their native resolution without blurring.

How can I confirm the RTX 4070 with 8GB GDDR6X is active after first boot?

Open Device Manager, expand Display adapters, and verify the GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU appears with 8 GB dedicated video memory.

Does the box include a power adapter for the 14-core i7-13700H and RTX 4070, or must I buy one separately?

The laptop ships with its matched AC adapter; no separate power supply purchase is required.
