Portable Cassette-to-MP3 Converter

The DigitNow! BR602-B is a compact cassette player that records tapes directly to digital MP3 files on a PC, laptop or Mac. It ships with AudioLAVA editing software on CD and includes headphones for private listening. The unit handles standard cassettes and uses a 3.5 mm headphone jack for audio output.

Upgrade from a Basic Playback Deck

A simple walkman only plays tapes through headphones; this model adds a USB audio capture device that streams stereo sound to the computer for conversion. The jump is worth it when you have a collection of cassettes you want preserved as digital files without a separate interface box. The metal deck mechanism with automatic reverse and a four-channel stereo head improves tracking stability over entry-level plastic transports.

Fits a Minimal Desktop Setup

The converter draws power and sends audio over a single USB 2.0 connection, so it needs only a free USB port and the supplied software. No external power supply or driver installation is required on supported Windows and Mac systems. Its 4.5 x 3.5 x 1.2 inch footprint and 9.1 ounce weight leave desk space free, while the included headphones let you monitor recordings without extra speakers.

Questions about this item

What are the exact dimensions of the BR602-B cassette player so I can check if it fits my bag?

The player measures 4.5 x 3.5 x 1.2 inches and weighs 9.1 ounces, making it compact enough for most bags or shelves.

How do I install the included AudioLAVA software on Windows 10, and what setting do people often miss?

Install AudioLAVA from the CD, then in Audacity preferences set the recording device to USB Audio Device and channels to 2 (Stereo); the step often missed is enabling Software Playthrough to monitor while recording.

The player uses a 3.5mm headphone jack for audio capture; does the cable wear out and can I replace it?

The 3.5mm audio cable is a standard stereo cable; if it fails you can replace it with any 3.5mm male-to-male cable without needing proprietary parts.
