What the V316 capture device does

The DigitNow! V316 is a USB 3.0 video capture device that accepts HDMI, component, S-Video and composite sources. It handles 4K input at up to 30 Hz and delivers 1080p output for recording or streaming. The silver aluminium enclosure measures 5.8 x 5.1 x 1.4 inches and weighs 7.2 ounces.

Who should buy it and who should not

Streamers and gamers who need a single-box solution for consoles, cameras or legacy analogue gear will find the HDMI loop-out and zero-latency pass-through practical. Buyers who require 4K 60 Hz capture, multi-channel audio mixing or internal PCIe bandwidth should look at a different class of device.

What the bundle adds

The package supplies the capture unit and a printed user manual only. No cables, power adapter or software disc are included, so you must provide your own HDMI, component or composite leads and download any preferred capture application such as OBS or VLC.

Questions about this item

What computer port is required to connect the DigitNow! V316 capture device?

A USB 3.0 port is required; the device draws power from that port and needs no external supply.

Can the HDMI loop-out send a 4K signal to a monitor while the capture output stays at 1080p?

The HDMI input accepts up to 4K at 30 Hz and the loop-out passes that signal through, while the USB capture output is limited to 1080p.

How can I confirm the V316 is capturing correctly after plugging it in?

The two LED indicators light when a valid signal is detected, and the device appears as a webcam in OBS, VLC, or PotPlayer for immediate preview.
