Product identity

The DIRECTV MSPLIT8R1-03 is an eight-way coaxial splitter built for DIRECTV SWM satellite installations. It distributes a single SWM signal to multiple receivers in residential or commercial setups. One port passes DC power back toward the dish or multiswitch. The green label identifies it as a DIRECTV-approved component.

Power-passing constraint

Only one of the eight ports carries a DC path for remote power feeding. The remaining seven ports are blocked from DC and come terminated to limit signal leakage. The splitter is designed exclusively for DIRECTV SWM LNBs, SWM 8 or SWM 16 multiswitches and will not function correctly on other satellite or cable systems.

Capacity and headroom

Eight output ports support a full multi-room viewing deployment from a single SWM source. The included terminators on seven ports preserve signal quality across unused drops. Removable rubber seals and supplied mounting screws allow weatherproof indoor or outdoor installation. The unit weighs .4375 lb.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 8-way model or a 16-way splitter for my DIRECTV SWM setup?

Pick the 8-way splitter when you have up to eight receivers; move to the 16-way only if you need more than eight outputs.

What does the single power-passing port do once the splitter is installed?

The red port carries DC voltage back to the SWM LNB or multiswitch so the dish stays powered through the same coax run.

Is this splitter compatible with the SWM standard and what frequency range does it cover?

It is built for DIRECTV SWM systems and passes the wideband spectrum used by those multiswitches and LNBs.
