Product Identity

The Disston Master Mechanic 842867 is a 6-inch coarse crimped wire wheel designed for surface preparation tasks. It fits bench grinders or compatible power tools with a 5/8-inch to 1/2-inch arbor size.

Accessory Impact

The 0.012 gauge crimped wire construction provides aggressive material removal for stripping paint and eliminating rust. This configuration allows the wheel to conform to irregular surfaces while maintaining cutting efficiency at operating speeds up to 3,750 RPM.

Setup Verification

Confirm your grinder accepts a 6-inch diameter wheel and operates at or below the rated maximum speed. Verify the arbor matches the 5/8-inch to 1/2-inch range and that your tool's no-load RPM does not exceed 3,750.

Questions about this item

How often will the .012 gauge crimped wire need replacing?

The coarse crimped .012 gauge wire wears down with use; replace the wheel when bristles become too short to clean effectively.

What speed limit must I observe to avoid wheel failure?

Do not exceed 3,750 RPM; the wheel is rated for speeds up to that figure.

How hot does the 6 inch wheel get during continuous operation?

The wheel itself generates minimal heat; most warmth comes from friction on the workpiece, so allow the metal to cool periodically.
