Silver aluminium MST dock

The Doodle Art World SW is a USB-C docking station built from aluminium alloy and measuring 260 by 80 millimetres. It connects through a single USB Type-C male port and adds twelve expansion interfaces including dual HDMI, VGA, Gigabit-class Ethernet at 10/100 megabits per second, two USB 3.0 ports rated at 5 gigabits per second, a USB 2.0 port, a USB-C data port, SD and microSD card slots and a 3.5 millimetre audio jack. MST support enables extended dual-monitor output from compatible hosts.

Suits multi-monitor laptop users.

Workers who want two external displays from one USB-C connection will find the dual HDMI 4K 30Hz and VGA 1080p 60Hz outputs useful. The 10/100 megabit Ethernet port handles typical office traffic but does not reach 1000 megabit speeds. Buyers who require 4K 60Hz video, gigabit wired networking or laptop charging beyond the host port’s own power delivery capability should consider other solutions.

MST dual HDMI 4K 30Hz

The deciding specification is MST-driven dual HDMI video at 4K 30Hz per port. If the host supports MST over its USB-C alternate mode, two independent screens can be driven at that resolution and refresh rate; without MST support the second HDMI port will mirror the first. This single capability determines whether the dock fits the user’s display workflow.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the two HDMI ports or the VGA port for dual monitors?

Both HDMI ports support 4K at 30 Hz each, while the VGA port maxes out at 1080p 60 Hz. Choose HDMI for higher resolution on both screens, or mix one HDMI and VGA if a monitor only has VGA.

What does the 4K 30 Hz HDMI spec mean when I plug in two displays?

Each HDMI port can drive a 4K monitor at 30 Hz simultaneously thanks to MST, so you get two independent 4K 30 Hz screens from the single USB-C connection.

The Ethernet port says 10/100 Mbps and not 1000 Mbps — what speed will I actually see?

The RJ45 port is limited to 100 Mbps maximum, so wired network transfers will cap at roughly 100 Mbps even if your router and cable support Gigabit.
