Professional Cardioid Earset

The DPA d:fine CORE 4288 is a directional earset microphone built for spoken word and vocal performance. Its cardioid polar pattern captures sound from the front while minimising background noise. A 120mm boom allows precise positioning close to the mouth. The mini-jack connector suits compatible wireless bodypack systems.

Consistent High-SPL Handling

The pre-polarized condenser capsule maintains low distortion up to 137 dB SPL peak. Equivalent noise measures 26 dB(A) A-weighted with a maximum of 28 dB(A). Signal-to-noise ratio reaches 68 dB(A) referenced to 94 dB SPL. A near-field response of 100 Hz to 20 kHz includes a 4 to 6 dB soft boost at 15 kHz for intelligibility.

Flexible One-Ear Mounting

The single-ear design weighs very little and resists humidity for reliable stage use. Positioning the capsule 2 to 3 cm from the mouth ensures the stated near-field response. Users must verify their bodypack supplies the correct bias voltage for the mini-jack connection. The beige finish reduces visual prominence under lighting.

Questions about this item

How much background noise does the cardioid capsule add during long sessions?

The A-weighted equivalent noise level is typically 26 dB(A) with a maximum of 28 dB(A), so the microphone adds very little hiss even after hours of use.

What connector must my wireless bodypack or recorder provide for the mini-jack plug?

The microphone ends in a mini-jack connector, so your bodypack, sound card or mixer needs a matching mini-jack input.

Will the 120 mm boom reach my mouth if I keep using my current over-ear headset?

The 120 mm boom is designed for a near-field distance of 2 to 3 cm, so it positions the capsule close to the mouth even when worn alongside an over-ear headset.
