11/16 in HSS Reduced Shank Drill Bit

The Drill America bit is a high-speed steel cutting tool with a reduced shank that fits a standard 3/8 in drill chuck. It is designed for general-purpose drilling in metal, wood and plastic where a larger hole diameter is required. The silver and deming style construction provides rigidity for accurate hole placement.

Upgrading from standard twist bits

A reduced shank bit replaces the need for a dedicated large-chuck drill press when occasional large holes are needed. The jump is worth it for mechanics and fabricators who need 11/16 in capacity without changing machines. It is not for production runs requiring carbide tool life or coolant-fed drilling.

Questions about this item

What size chuck does the 11/16in drill bit require for its 3/8in shank?

The bit has a 3/8in reduced shank, so it fits any chuck that opens to at least 3/8in.

Which step is most often missed when installing this reduced-shank bit?

Tighten the chuck on the reduced 3/8in shank section, not on the wider 11/16in flute, or the bit will slip.
