7/16 inch Cobalt Drill Bit with Reduced Shank

This cobalt steel drill bit features a 7/16 inch cutting diameter and a reduced 3/8 inch shank for use with smaller chucks. The bronze oxide surface treatment helps reduce friction and resist wear during drilling. It is suited for general-purpose metalworking in a workshop or job site.

Capacity and headroom for metal drilling

The 4-1/16 inch flute length provides sufficient reach for most standard drilling depths in steel and alloy materials. Cobalt construction maintains hardness at higher temperatures compared to standard high-speed steel. The reduced shank limits use to chucks that accept 3/8 inch or larger capacity, so it is not for machines with smaller chuck sizes.

Questions about this item

Will the 3/8 reduced shank fit my older 3/8 chuck drill without an adapter?

Yes, the 3/8 reduced shank is designed to seat directly in a standard 3/8 chuck so you can use the 7/16 cobalt bit with existing tooling.

How do I confirm the cobalt bit is cutting correctly after I install it?

Look for steady bronze oxide chips and a smooth .4375 hole; the surface treated flutes should evacuate material cleanly without blueing or chatter.
