What the cutter does

This nACo-coated annular cutter is built for magnetic drill presses only. It removes only the perimeter of the hole, leaving a solid slug and reducing the force needed to cut large diameters in steel, cast iron, heated steel and stainless steel. The 3/4-inch Weldon shank fits most mag-drill arbors and the included pilot pin aligns the cut and ejects the slug. It is not compatible with standard hand drills or conventional drill presses.

When the coating pays off

The nano-composite blue coating delivers up to 30 percent longer tool life versus traditional high-speed steel annular cutters. That gain matters when you are cutting abrasive or work-hardening alloys day after day, or when a single dull cutter would halt a production run. If you only drill occasional mild-steel holes, an uncoated M2 cutter will cost less up front and still finish the job.

Behaviour under sustained load

The coating maintains hardness at the elevated temperatures generated by continuous cutting in stainless or heated steels, so edge wear stays predictable instead of accelerating. The geometry cuts only the necessary material, keeping torque demand steady during long passes. The pilot pin stays engaged through the full depth, preventing the cutter from wandering when the hole deepens and coolant flow drops.
