Direct-burial Cat6 cable for outdoor networks

This 1000 ft solid UTP cable uses 23AWG CCA conductors and a polyethylene jacket rated for direct burial. It meets all Category 6 specifications and is certified for gigabit Ethernet. The waterproof HDPE insulation and UV-resistant outer layer protect the four colour-striped pairs from moisture and sunlight. Installers can pull the exact length needed from the easy-pull box and terminate to standard connectors or patch panels.

Thermals noise and power in normal use

The passive cable generates no heat and draws no power during operation. Its thick polyethylene jacket shields the foil-shielded pairs from extreme temperatures and water ingress without active cooling. Zero fan noise means the run stays silent whether buried underground or routed along exterior walls. EMI and RFI rejection is handled by the overall foil shield rather than any powered circuitry.

Build integration needs and freedoms

The 21 lb spool feeds cleanly from the box for long pulls through conduit or open trenches. Solid conductors require punch-down terminations at jacks or patch panels rather than stranded plug crimps. The heavy-duty flexible jacket resists cuts and tears during installation, freeing the installer from extra protective sleeving. No external power supply or grounding kit is mandated by the cable itself.

Questions about this item

How do I pull the DS611 through conduit without damaging the PE jacket?

Feed the cable from the easy-pull box, keep bends wide, and use lubricant on long runs; the heavy-duty flexible jacket resists cuts and tearing during installation.

Will the 23AWG CCA conductors need replacement sooner than solid copper?

CCA meets Cat6 specs for gigabit Ethernet, but aluminium cores fatigue faster under repeated flexing, so plan to re-terminate ends if the cable is moved often.

At what distance does signal loss limit gigabit speeds on this 1000 ft reel?

Cat6 certification covers up to 100 metres per channel; beyond that length, attenuation on the 23AWG conductors will drop link speed below 1 Gbps.
