Pair of open-back ceiling speakers

The Kramer GALIL-6-CO(PAIR) delivers a pair of two-way open-back ceiling speakers rated at 8 ohms. Each unit uses a 6.5-inch polypropylene woofer with a rubber surround and a 0.5-inch Mylar tweeter in a coaxial layout. The infinite baffle design suits distributed audio systems in commercial or residential ceilings. Frequency response spans 60Hz to 20kHz for full-range coverage.

Check amplifier and wiring compatibility

Verify that your amplifier supports an 8-ohm load or the 70V/100V constant-voltage taps provided by the built-in multi-tap transformer. The transformer allows direct 8-ohm operation or line-voltage settings for larger arrays. Ensure ceiling void depth accommodates the open-back enclosure and that local codes permit open-back installation. Confirm cable gauge suits the chosen impedance mode and run length.

Build quality and daily implications

The open-back construction reduces weight and eases placement in shallow plenums but offers no rear enclosure isolation. Coaxial driver alignment keeps dispersion consistent for even coverage across seating areas. Polypropylene cones resist humidity in typical ceiling environments. The multi-tap transformer simplifies reconfiguration between low-impedance and constant-voltage modes without rewiring the speaker terminals.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box with the GALIL-6-CO(PAIR) and what must be purchased separately?

The box contains a pair of 6.5-inch two-way open-back ceiling speakers with built-in multi-tap transformers. Speaker cable, mounting hardware and an amplifier are not included.

Which version should I choose between the 8O setting and the 70V or 100V taps?

Use the 8O setting for direct connection to a standard amplifier. Choose 70V or 100V taps when wiring multiple speakers in a distributed line array.

What does the 60Hz to 20kHz frequency response mean once the speakers are installed in a ceiling?

It indicates the range the 6.5-inch polypropylene woofer and .5-inch Mylar tweeter reproduce in an infinite baffle setup, covering typical music and speech content.
