Compaq Presario 65W AC adapter

This 65-watt power supply delivers 18.5 volts at 3.5 amps for Compaq Presario X1062ap, X1063 and X1063ap notebooks. It accepts 100 to 240 volts at 50 to 60 hertz for worldwide mains use. The barrel connector measures 1.7 millimetres internal and 4.8 millimetres external diameter. An AC power cord is included in the package.

Straightforward barrel installation

Installation is a simple plug-in to the laptop DC jack and a wall socket; no drivers or configuration are required. Problems usually arise if the tip size does not match the 1.7 by 4.8 millimetre specification or if the laptop needs a different voltage or wattage. Buyers who need a higher output rating or a different connector type cannot use this adapter.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the adapter is delivering the correct 18.5V 3.5A output after connecting it?

The laptop should charge normally and the battery indicator will show charging; a multimeter on the DC plug centre pin should read 18.5V under load.

Does the package include the AC power cord and do I need a separate connector tip for the 1.7 mm internal diameter jack?

The AC power cord is included and the connector is fixed at 1.7 mm internal by 4.8 mm external diameter, so no separate tip is required.
