Eaton CN15AN3AB Contactor

The Eaton CN15AN3AB is a NEMA Size 00 magnetic contactor rated for 9 A inductive load at 120 VAC coil voltage. It provides three-pole switching for motor-starting and lighting-control panels in industrial and commercial installations.

Upgrading From Smaller Starters

This contactor replaces fractional-horsepower starters when the load reaches 1.5 hp at 240 VAC or 2 hp at 480 VAC three-phase. The jump is worth it when the existing starter cannot handle the higher inrush current or when a NEMA-rated frame is required by specification.

Panel Mount With Screw Terminals

The unit mounts on a standard panel using the Freedom series footprint of 3.88 in height and 1.75 in width. Screw terminals accept ring or fork lugs; the most common error is over-torquing the terminal screws, which can crack the transparent housing.

Questions about this item

What panel cut-out dimensions does the 3.88 in by 1.75 in contactor require?

The unit measures 3.88 in high by 1.75 in wide; allow that footprint plus clearance for screw-terminal wiring on the panel.

Which coil terminals accept the 110/120V AC supply and how are they secured?

The coil connects to the screw terminals marked A1 and A2; tighten each terminal to the specified torque so the 120V AC control voltage makes reliable contact.

When should the 1NO auxiliary contact be inspected or replaced?

Check the 1NO auxiliary contact during scheduled panel maintenance; replace it if the contact shows pitting, overheating discolouration or fails to change state cleanly.
