Thermal overload unit covering 2.11 to 2.32 A for NEMA 0, 1, 2 starters
The Eaton FH23 thermal unit provides overload protection for motor starters and contactors. It covers a full-load current range of 2.11 to 2.32 amperes and suits NEMA sizes 0, 1 and 2. Electrical technicians and panel builders use it to replace worn or damaged heater elements in compatible assemblies.
This unit operates at Trip Class 20, meaning it trips within a defined time under sustained overcurrent. The thermal mechanism reacts to heating from load current rather than ambient temperature alone. Power draw is negligible because the element is passive and carries only the motor current.
Under continuous overload the element heats progressively and opens the control circuit when the trip threshold is reached. It does not reset automatically; the starter must be manually re-engaged after the fault clears. The 1.79 to 1.95 A and 2.07 to 2.26 A ratings apply to other models in the same series.

Snap the unit into the overload relay base for NEMA size 0, 1 or 2 starters; the step often missed is verifying the full-load current falls within the 2.11-2.32 A range before closing the cover.
Replace the thermal unit after a trip event or when the heater element shows discolouration; no lubrication or cleaning is required for the sealed Trip Class 20 element.
The thermal element reaches its Trip Class 20 time-current limit first, opening the circuit when current exceeds the 2.11-2.32 A rating for the defined trip time.
