Self-Cooling 42U Rack for Edge Computing

The Eaton SRCOOL5KWRM42U is a factory-assembled 42U deep rack with a pre-installed 5.5 kW direct-expansion cooling unit at the bottom. Single-phase 208 V power and a hard-wire connection with an optional NEMA L6-30P cable mean no separate HVAC installation is required. It targets server rooms and edge sites that need immediate cold-aisle cooling without building infrastructure work.

27U Usable Space With Optimised Airflow

Only 27U remain for equipment because the cooling module occupies the lower portion of the rack. Pre-installed 1U blanks force 470 CFM of conditioned air through the IT gear rather than around it, maintaining consistent intake temperatures during continuous operation. The 1.2 kg R410a charge supports steady heat removal at the rated 18,766 BTU per hour without short-cycling.

Remote Management Via SNMP and Touchscreen

A built-in network management card provides SNMP monitoring and control around the clock, while a 7-inch colour touchscreen on the unit allows local commissioning and diagnostics. The steel enclosure ships fully assembled at 90.47 by 29.13 by 52.76 inches, so the rack is ready to accept equipment once power is connected.

Questions about this item

How much heat and power does the 5.5 kW cooling unit add to the room when it runs continuously?

The unit draws up to 5500 Watts at 208V single-phase and removes 18,766 BTU per hour from the rack, so the room must handle both the IT load and the unit's own electrical consumption.

What electrical supply and connection must already be in place before the rack arrives?

A 208V AC, 60 Hz single-phase circuit with a NEMA L6-30P receptacle or hardwire point is required; a 12 ft cable with L6-30P plug is included for the latter option.

Will my existing 42U deep servers fit in the 27U of usable space left after the cooling unit is installed?

The rack accepts devices up to 42.95 inches deep, but only 27U of vertical space remains above the pre-installed cooling module, so equipment taller than 27U will not fit.
