Industrial Motor Protector

The Eaton XTPR Series manual motor protector is a three-pole selector switch rated for 40 A at up to 600 V AC. It provides thermal overload protection for single-phase and three-phase motors in industrial control panels and automation equipment.

Panel Integration

The device mounts in a control enclosure and connects directly to the motor circuit without a separate contactor. Its adjustable overload relay covers a 32 A to 40 A range, freeing panel space by combining switching and protection in one unit.

Capacity Limits

It handles three-phase loads up to 10 hp at 208 V, 30 hp at 480 V and 40 hp at 600 V, with single-phase ratings of 3 hp at 120 V and 7.5 hp at 240 V. Motors exceeding these horsepower or current ratings fall outside the protector's range.

Questions about this item

At what current will the 40 A overload trip during continuous operation?

The adjustable overload trips between 32 A and 40 A, so sustained loads above the set point will cause a trip.

How much heat does the protector dissipate when carrying 40 A all day?

The selector-switch body stays cool enough for panel mounting; no forced-air cooling is required at rated current.

What supply voltage and phase arrangement must the installation already provide?

A three-phase supply up to 600 V AC with 208 V, 240 V, 480 V or 600 V ratings is required for the three-pole unit.
