Portable Tankless Water Heater

The Eccotemp EL7 Luxé is a CSA-approved portable tankless water heater designed for outdoor use. It delivers 1.85 GPM of hot water with a 52K BTU output. The unit features an Extreme All-Weather Rain Cap, Tri-Coat Pearl White exterior, inset knobs and a steel carrying handle. Electronic ignition is powered by 4 AA batteries.

Operating Limits

The heater operates within a 20-80 PSI water pressure range and achieves a temperature range of 90-120°F. A built-in Anti-Flame Tilt Switch automatically shuts the unit off when tilted beyond 45 degrees. Multiple sensors regulate temperature and prevent scalding. For low-pressure situations, the manufacturer recommends a separate 12V pump and strainer.

Setup Requirements

The EL7 connects to a standard garden hose and a 20 lb. propane tank. Buyers should verify their water source can supply pressure within the 20-80 PSI range. Ensure the installation location allows safe operation of a portable propane appliance. The unit requires 4 AA batteries for the ignition system, which are not included.

Questions about this item

How does the 1.85 GPM flow rate translate to real-world use?

The heater delivers 1.85 gallons per minute, enough for a single shower or sink at a time; running two fixtures together will drop pressure noticeably.

What temperature range can I actually get from the 52K BTU rating?

The unit produces water between 90 and 120 °F, so you can dial in a comfortable shower temperature even in cool weather.

What does the 20–80 PSI operating range mean for my water source?

It works with standard garden-hose pressure down to 20 PSI; below that you need a boost pump, and above 80 PSI you risk damaging the heater.
