Limits of the HDMI-to-USB 3.0 Path

The hardware accepts an input signal up to 4K 30Hz but can only encode 1080p 60fps or 2K 30fps for the host, so higher-resolution sources are downscaled. Latency is low but not zero; competitive players who need frame-perfect response may still prefer a direct monitor connection. The device also cannot pass HDR metadata through to the recording software.
