The Elinchrom Handheld Boom Arm is a lightweight aluminium support designed for photographers and videographers who need to position lights overhead without a stand. It extends from 24 inches to 5.1 feet (156 cm) and uses a standard 5/8 inch stud to mount a wide range of fixtures. A rubberised handgrip provides a secure, comfortable hold during long sessions, while the profiled extension tube stops mounted heads or reflectors from spinning.

Reach and rigidity for overhead lighting

At its shortest the arm measures 24 inches for tight spaces; fully extended it reaches 5.1 feet so hair or rim lights can be placed above a subject. The two-section design locks with clip-locks that hold length adjustments firmly, yet release quickly when the shooting position changes. The aluminium tube resists flex under typical modifier weight, but very large softboxes or heavy strobes will exceed its comfortable capacity. It is not suited for builders who need a rigid fixed boom or for setups that demand a counter-weighted stand.

Thermals noise and power are not applicable

This is a passive mechanical tool with no motor, fan or electronics, so it generates no heat, draws no power and produces no audible noise during use. The only physical feedback is the tactile click of the clip-locks engaging. Because it requires no electricity it adds nothing to a location power budget and needs no cooling consideration. It is not for users who expect automated positioning or powered movement.
