What It Is and Who It Is For

This Elite Image 75420 MICR toner cartridge is a new aftermarket replacement for HP 05A CE505A. It fits HP LaserJet P2035, P2035n, P2055dn and P2055x printers. It is intended for offices that print cheques or other documents requiring magnetic ink character recognition.

The Deciding Specification

The cartridge contains MICR toner, which provides the magnetic signal that bank clearing systems read. Standard black toner lacks this property, so cheques printed with it will be rejected. This cartridge yields approximately 2300 pages at five percent coverage.

Installation and Common Issues

Installation follows the normal HP cartridge swap: open the printer, remove the old unit, shake the new cartridge gently, pull the sealing tape and insert it until it clicks. The most frequent problem is forgetting to remove the sealing tape completely, which causes blank or streaked pages. Using non-MICR toner for cheque printing is the other common error.

Questions about this item

How many checks can I expect to print before the 2300-page yield runs out?

The cartridge is rated for roughly 2300 pages at standard coverage, so the same figure applies to MICR check printing under typical conditions.

Does this cartridge use the same chip interface as the original HP 05A CE505A?

Yes, it is built as a direct replacement for the HP 05A CE505A and communicates with the printer through the standard cartridge interface.

Will the 75420 fit inside my HP LaserJet P2055dn without any extra brackets?

The cartridge matches the form factor of the HP 05A CE505A, so it slides straight into the P2055dn and the other listed models with no adapters needed.
