Clear Equipment Cover for Industrial Use

The Elkay 5CPF5 is a clear equipment cover made from low density polyethylene. It measures 22 inches by 14 inches with a 1 mil thickness. Supplied as a cored roll of 500 pieces, it suits operations needing bulk protective sheeting.

Practical Limits of Single-Use Polyethylene

At 1 mil thick, the LDPE material provides basic dust and moisture shielding but will tear under sharp edges or heavy abrasion. The gusseted design accommodates irregular shapes, yet the lack of closure means tape or heat sealing is required for secure containment. It is not rated for prolonged UV exposure.

FDA Compliant Food-Contact Clearance

FDA compliance confirms the film is cleared for direct contact with food surfaces. Buyers needing certified sterile barriers or static-dissipative properties should look elsewhere, as this cover carries California Proposition 65 warnings for cancer and reproductive harm.

Questions about this item

What does the 1 mil thickness mean for everyday protection?

At 1 mil the LDPE film is thin and lightweight, intended for light dust and moisture protection rather than heavy abrasion resistance.

How does the 14 in by 22 in gusseted size fit on a workbench?

The gusseted design expands to a 3 in depth, so the cover can drape over boxy equipment up to 14 in wide and 22 in long while staying in place.

What does the FDA compliant label on the LDPE cover allow?

FDA compliant LDPE means the material is cleared for direct contact with food, so the covers can be used on kitchen or food-prep equipment without regulatory concerns.
