System Overview

The EnGenius FreeStyl SIP2 is a corded IP phone system that includes two handsets and one base unit. It operates on the 900 MHz frequency band for extended range and uses SIP protocols for voice over IP communication in office or home environments.

Target Use

This system suits small businesses or households that need multiple handsets connected to a single VoIP line. It is not designed for users who require Wi-Fi or DECT compatibility, nor for installations needing more than two handsets without additional base units.

Deciding Spec

The 900 MHz wireless link between handset and base determines coverage and interference profile; verify that this frequency is permitted and effective in your building before purchase.

Questions about this item

How is the base station connected to the network and what step is often missed?

Connect the base to a PoE switch or router port, then register each handset to the SIP account; the step often missed is entering the correct SIP credentials on the base web interface before pairing.

What maintenance will the handsets need over time?

The rechargeable batteries in both handsets will gradually lose capacity and should be replaced when talk time drops noticeably.

What limit appears first during a long call on the 900 MHz link?

The 900 MHz radio range sets the boundary; moving too far from the base causes audio drop-outs before battery or network limits are reached.
