Capacity and interface

The Epoch 400-ALNY is a 4TB 3.5" internal hard drive with a SAS 12Gb/s interface spinning at 7200 RPM. It is built for server workloads that demand consistent throughput and enterprise-grade reliability.

Generation upgrade path

The drive replaces earlier SAS disks in Dell PowerEdge 12 and 13 generation servers as well as Tower 12 and 14 generation models. The jump is worth it when a 12Gb/s controller is present and the workload needs the higher spindle speed for random I/O performance.

Compatibility checklist

Verify that the target server appears in the supported model list and that the backplane or controller provides a SAS 12Gb/s connection. Confirm the 3.5" bay availability and that the system firmware recognises the drive before ordering.

What is the correct way to install this SAS drive in a Dell PowerEdge server?
