8TB 7200 RPM SATA drive for servers

The Epoch 400-ASSX is an 8TB 3.5-inch internal hard drive spinning at 7200 RPM over a SATA 6Gb/s interface. It is supplied as a replacement kit validated for Dell PowerEdge 14G and 15G rack and tower servers.

Suited for hot-swap server bays, not laptops

This drive fits 3.5-inch hot-swap bays in the listed Dell PowerEdge and Dell Tower models. Builders working in 2.5-inch enclosures, desktop PCs without 3.5-inch mounts, or systems needing a different interface should look elsewhere.

SATA 6Gb/s interface decides compatibility

The single specification that determines fit is the SATA 6Gb/s interface combined with the 3.5-inch form factor. Only platforms that accept a 3.5-inch SATA drive can use this kit.

Questions about this item

Will this 3.5" 7200 RPM SATA drive work in a Dell PowerEdge R740 server?

Yes, the replacement kit lists compatibility with Dell PowerEdge 14G servers including the R740, R740xd, and R740xd2 models.

How can I confirm the 8TB SATA drive is operating correctly after installation?

The drive should be detected in the server BIOS or RAID controller at its full 8TB capacity with a 7200 RPM speed rating and SATA 6Gb/s link.

Does the 400-ASSX kit include a drive tray or caddy for 3.5" bays, or must I buy one separately?

The kit is a replacement drive; retail or OEM packing may vary, so a Dell 3.5" hot-plug tray may need to be sourced separately if not already present.
