Extension Collar Kit for LX Dual Stacking Arm

This collar kit extends the vertical reach of an Ergotron LX dual stacking arm. It is intended for installers who need additional height clearance when mounting two displays one above the other. The matte black finish matches the standard arm colourway. The kit integrates with the existing LX mounting hardware.

Passive Component With No Power Draw

The extension collar is a passive mechanical part that adds no electrical load to the workstation. It introduces no fan noise because it contains no moving parts. Thermal output is zero, so it does not affect the ambient temperature around the mounted displays. Installation requires only the tools already used for the base arm.

Structural Performance Under Static Load

Under sustained load the collar maintains the rigid alignment of the stacked arm segments. It transfers the combined weight of both monitors through the existing pole without flex that would accumulate over time. The fixed geometry prevents gradual sag that can appear with lighter spacer rings. Long-term stability depends on the underlying LX arm rating.

Questions about this item

How do I attach the extension collar to my existing LX dual stacking arm, and which orientation of the collar is correct?

Slide the collar over the arm's vertical pole, align the keyed notch with the arm's groove, then tighten the set screw with the supplied hex key until the collar locks flush; the notch faces the cable-management channel.

What part of this kit will wear first and need replacement under normal desk use?

The nylon bushings inside the collar absorb the pivot friction; after several years they can develop play, and the kit includes a spare bushing set for that refresh.

How much additional height does this collar add before the arm reaches its maximum safe extension?

The collar adds 30 mm of stack height; the arm's gas spring is rated for the original travel plus this extra 30 mm, so exceeding that combined length risks spring bottom-out.
