Adds eight external SAS or SATA ports through two SFF-8088 connectors on a PCIe 2.0 x8 card with a SAS 2008 controller
The eshinreal add-on card provides eight external connections through two SFF-8088 Mini-SAS ports, each carrying four lanes. It installs in a PCIe 2.0 x8 slot and uses the SAS 2008 controller to present drives to the host. The board suits administrators who need to attach external JBOD enclosures or direct-attach SAS and SATA storage arrays without internal cabling. It is not for systems lacking a PCIe x8 slot or for users who require internal drive connectors only.
Under continuous load the PCIe 2.0 x8 link supplies 4Gbps per lane, giving a consistent pipe for multiple drives operating simultaneously. The SAS 2008 controller manages SAS 2.0 and SATA III devices with hot-swap support, so drive replacements do not interrupt the array. Performance scales with the number of active spindles or SSDs rather than peaking on a single burst. It is not for workloads that demand PCIe 3.0 or 4.0 bandwidth ceilings.
The card has no onboard fan and relies on chassis airflow across its heatsink, adding negligible acoustic output in normal operation. Power consumption stays within the PCIe slot envelope, so no auxiliary connector is required. UEFI and legacy BIOS compatibility ensures the controller initialises cleanly on a wide range of server and workstation platforms. It is not for compact enclosures with severely restricted slot airflow.

The card has no active cooling, so it adds minimal heat and no fan noise during all-day operation.
You need Mini-SAS SFF-8088 cables and an external drive enclosure or backplane that accepts the same connector.
Yes, the controller supports SAS 2.0 and SATA III, so it is backward compatible with SATA II drives.
