SKU CH-1SM7-D8J98

A 24-port SAS 3224 HBA adds 12Gb/s SAS and SATA connectivity over PCIe 3.0 x8 using six SFF-8643 connectors

  • Product typeController Card
  • 12Gb/s SAS 3.0 bandwidth via PCIe 3.0 x8 interface
  • 24-port expansion using six SFF-8643 connectors for high-density storage
  • Pure HBA passthrough with SAS 3224 controller — no RAID overhead
  • Mixed SAS and SATA drive support in one card
  • Low-profile bracket and UEFI boot for enterprise deployment

What the SAS 3224 HBA is

The eshinreal SAS 3224 is a 12Gb/s PCIe 3.0 x8 host bus adapter that adds 24 SAS and SATA ports to a server or workstation. It targets IT professionals who need dense, direct-attached storage expansion without RAID overhead.

Capacity and headroom with 24 ports

Six SFF-8643 connectors provide 24 lanes of 12Gb/s SAS 3.0 bandwidth, each lane backward compatible with 6Gb/s and 3Gb/s drives. The card scales to large JBOD enclosures but cannot accelerate RAID; parity calculations must be handled by the host CPU or software stack.

Thermals, noise and power in normal use

The low-profile bracket fits restricted chassis airflow paths and the controller runs without an active cooler. Power draw stays within the PCIe slot envelope, so no auxiliary connector is required and acoustic impact is negligible in typical rackmount deployments.

Questions about this item

Will the 12Gb/s SAS 3224 HBA work with my existing 6Gb/s SAS and SATA drives?

Yes, the SAS 3224 supports SAS 3.0 at 12Gb/s and maintains backward compatibility with 6Gb/s and 3Gb/s SAS and SATA devices.

How can I verify the PCIe 3.0 x8 card is operating at full 12Gb/s speed after installation?

Check the controller BIOS or operating system device manager to confirm the link width shows x8 and the negotiated speed reports 12Gb/s per attached SAS 3.0 drive.

What cables are required to connect drives to the six SFF-8643 ports on this 24-port HBA?

The card provides six SFF-8643 connectors; you must purchase SFF-8643 to SFF-8643 cables or SFF-8643 breakout cables matching your drive backplane or drive connectors.
